I don't have a 440, but my 383 & /6 are using the old stocker type that they came with. Good Luck

Thee are adjustable PCV's available so you can fine tune it to your engine. It works on your engines crank case vacuum.

I tried 2 napa PCV valves in my 76 440.
Each was a plastic replacement valve Both had a whistle noise , I thought the 1st was defective so tried the second one.
Same deal.
Had a old set of valve covers with a old PCV in one. Pulled it, cleaned it out with some brake clean.
Works fine. Lol.

So, I've never really given much thought to PCV valves; what else can go wrong in addition to leaks if the PCV isn't functioning properly?

You can also pull oil into your intake.

Yes, and I bought one for the 421 Tripower in the GTO after I had one for my 440 6bbl.
Worth every penny!!
I am absolutely certain that some people have rebuilt engines that only needed the M/E Wagner tunable PCV valve! Also, I'm sure that some people have reduced the performance and longevity of their classic muscle car engines by having a less than optimal PCV valve, which results in contaminated oil amongst other problems.
Finally, the BEST idle and performance can only be had with either "lucking into" the ideal PCV valve or doing what the smart people do...
Buy a tunable PCV valve from M/E Wagner and tell them Biomedtechguy from the B-Body forum referred you!
