What's out there these days? I'm in the market for a good rifle that's as accurate as possible. CO2 powered or pump? Dang 'real' guns are just too noisy to be shooting in the city limits lol. Dang sparrows decided they like the carport that's behind my shop and I'm getting tired of the chatter and the mess and they won't take the hint from the water hose etc...and I'm just not good enough with a wrist rocket.

I think over the long haul your going to get tired of buying the co2 cartriges and any pump rifle would be good. You get what you pay for-

Cranky check these out... My grandsons are getting older and live in town so im being a might sneaky with one of these to shoot when they come. My daughters tend to frown on me teaching them anything about guns but i may get away with one of these. They might still say no but worth a try, I like ones that resemble what you and i may shoot with, little more fun real looking.... I use my 22 revolvers the most because of cost of shells,, you sure can go thru a lot.

I'm thinking the same thing....hopefully I can find a good pump...better than what I had in the 60's and not be made in China..

Are your daughters liberal? :D I grew up in Massachusetts until I was 12 and moved to Texas where I quickly found out that everyone owned some kind of fire arm....and I have my share these days too. Never ever heard anyone up north talk about guns! All of my 3 children grew up with guns in the house and none of them ever thought they were toys and all of them shoot. My youngest wants to get her CHL soon but not until she learns how to break down and clean her weapon! Thanks for the links....

LOL, Naaaa, I never could get the daughters to really get into the guns, My son is the only one who takes an interest in guns and hunting and i have to keep his here as hes not permitted them in his apartment... Mine i don't even bother to unload them.. i don't have as many as compared to some but more then enough. I read your post here and looked up a good pump gun you might like to check on, one of there top sellers but ive never had one.. From what i read of getting tired of the co2 cartridges i may have to think about this more, its not like they would be used a lot but i do have 7 grand kids, that may get costly compared to bb's, This isint bad in price.. http://www.pyramydair.com/p/crosman-760-pumpmaster-air-rifle.shtml

I use a CO2 powered Barretta Elite for little varmits around the house here. 480fps. Kind of impressive and pretty darn accurate. It will roll about 60 rounds before it starts getting week. How many sparrows are there?

I use a remington airmaster 77. came with a scope I have it dialed in gnats *** now. Very accurate. Pellets are more accurate than bbs if you have the choice.

Have you tried this ammo before? Its basically a little shotshell for a 22 long rifle. There is no real noise when you shoot them and they don't have enough power to cycle a semi auto chamber.

a buddy of mine uses them at his place on a big body of water, bay of quinte, half assed still in town. he is paranoid of snakes and fires them all the time. a good fart makes more noise.

Probably less than 10 but I may have to go after others when my tomatoes start turning red. Mocking birds like the tomatoes too but those are our state's bird and can't do anything about them. Who in their right mind was responsible for that crap!?

Could be worse, isn't Florida's state bird the mosquito?

The reason I went with the CO2 bb pistol was two fold. The important one was it being a short range weapon. I don't have to worry so much about missing and taking out a neighbors window. The second reason was that bb's and air cylinders are dirt cheap.

Oh, and I can sit on my back patio with a bottle of Jack, popping rounds at them squirrels and the neighbors don't get upset. Way different story with the .45.

A couple of fake owls or hawks hanging form the corners of your building will also keep them away...Unless you are like me and like to shootup stuff for the hell of it!!

Those don't work at all after a day or two and the birds get used to them. A neighbor tried them for his garden and one day I saw a mocking bird sitting on top of one lol Heck, I have 'things' hanging from my carport and it's usually breezy here and all this stuff is moving around and the birds still are trying to build nests under it....

There's always the venerable daisy 840.

IIRC, that and the Crossman 760 were in direct competition.

I've also got a 10/22 and swear by CCI mini-mags!

I HAVE seen those fake owls work, though.....
