Just lazy I suppose. I am gonna leave my '64 Fury in black primer. Murdered she wrote. The panels have all been hung already. I was looking at putting on the pentastar and antenna and realized there isn't enough access to install these short of removing the splash shield or fender itself. Am I missing something, a route to success without removing anything?

Nope not a chance without removing the splash shield

There seems to be some type of bonding between the shield and fender, maybe it's just road grime. I think I may just try and remove the lower bolts starting at the shim pack and possibly the fender may spring enough to get my hand in there. Second choice will be the splash shield and hope it doesn't give me fits. I was looking at my daughter's friend long skinny arms earlier today and contemplating.......

Am I missing something here ? You want to install an antenna without removing the fender or splash shield. If my memory serves me (and i am getting old) back in the day working at the dealership we use to install radio packages in new 64 Plymouths. We never removed fenders or shields. The antenna hole goes to rear of shield. We drilled the fender and stuck the antenna through opening with the door open into hole, then fished the cable to inside through same area. Plenty of room. Hope this helps.

The antenna can be installed without removing the fender or shield! But the original medallion was bolted on there's no room to get the nut on without loosening the fender at the bottom!

If you are using a reproduction penstar (plastic one), cut the center stud off with a razor knife but leave the alignment stud, put 3M double sided tape on the back and stick it on. This is what I did for my Challenger and Cuda.
