people over pricing stuff

I just bought a new dash pad for my 63 Plymouth at Carlisle,,,,,,,,,,,,,$260!!!

I've seen an oil pan for sale, the person wants 650 smackers, and no matter how you slice it, that is friggin' ridiculous.

I think that "price comments" should be allowed in the for sale section as it might help the seller get a "realistic" selling price, but, I digress.

On another site, that same number pan is going for 900 plus shipping, so that may be a bargain lol

I'd like comments too. I commented on a grill once (told him to...) and was told by a mod to knock it off. ;)

I think the no comments in the 'for sale ' section is to stop them from being continually pushed to the top of postings?
Over priced won't sell and might be either be ,price dropped, brought or stay on the site ...hence the reason above.

Now my contribution ........this is a sucker trap if I've ever seen one.Just waiting for someone to want that ultra rare & never seen part ..lol

I've been doing this for a long time however with Chebbies and Fords. Its a fun hobby and I dont golf so I love the hobby but over the past 5 years I've seen folks pull some STUFF! I have several stories of being burned including one "dealer" that has known me over 7 years. Wouldnt take my credit card for the purchase and he is a dealer. Insisted on cash at the last minute it was a Saturday morning and I had to be at his business by 8:00 am on Monday (that's from Houston to Ohio) after me waiting 3 weeks for him to remove the used part and being patient. i explained that I am in Texas and had to be in the office on Monday...take the cc number for a "guarantee" and I could be there on Thursday. He refused stating he had another guy coming in with cash and if I wanted it I just needed to buck up.

This was a RARE part for a rare equipped car. I was pissed for 2 years! .... Ohhh funny though found out later KARMA or God got him!

Now fast forward... I found my new 68 bbody. The guy was very honest very helpful and his price was reasonable. So the moral of the story keep to your moral standards..."THEY" will get theirs...maybe not on your time frame or statistics but it WILL happen to all of them and good will come your way. I WIN!!!!

Im new to Mopars, great cars and great people. I find way less car snobs with Mopars. Some stuff is expensive When i was at Carlisile there was a vendor selling original grills and trim. Not aftermarket but original done over parts. There was a truck finish panel for a 69 GTX or Sport satellite. The piece was very nice but the red painted insert part was done sloppy and being I'm not a fussy person thats saying something
The red was painted outside the lines and on the chrome and it was full of brush marks. Still it was very nice condition. I was told it was a reconditioned original Mopar part. The price was written on the back and it said if i remember correctly $1700.00. I was shocked,i would never pay that kind of money. The mounting studs looked to be welded on with JB also. Last year another vender was selling reproductions and they were very nice and around $700. They told be they would do mine over for around 700. Thinking back that was a bargain.

The guy selling that Pan also was selling a BB A body Rad he got 700 for it.

I saw that also. But a radiator is a tad different than a oil pan.

Max wedge pans are 2-3 k....are they worth it?

They seem to hold there price, so maybe they are?? Just asking

Dennis H ....lol that is funny.

2 Grand for a max wedge oil pan?! man some of these prices just puzzle me.

One born every minute.....and they're waiting for that person. Just move on, and let others know.

I'm surprised anyone still buys NOS soft stock anymore. Rubber and vinyl weren't made to last 50-60 years, and the part may look fine in a box but once it's exposed to heat, moisture, pressure, etc, it isn't going to hold up like it would have when it was actually new. There's no way I would ever consider putting a 50-year old rubber belt on a car.

There's a guy in Daytona who's been trying sell a set of NOS Super Bee stripes for a long time, and I pity whoever buys them. I did some test runs with vintage vinyl and it looks like new on the mounting paper. Looks like new when you install it on the car. But within two to three weeks it starts to crack, and after another couple of weeks it starts to peel away and fade. After two to three months it's pretty much gone.

62 dart grill

Look at the guy selling the 62 dart grill on ebay.... I think he' way out of his mind????? 1K+....

I had a good experience for a change. After making an offer on a used part on eBay - a reasonable offer - considering this guy was asking twice the price of what it was worth. He blew me off w/o even responding. Then an FBBO member stepped up and offered me the same part at a very reasonable price - less than what I offered the fleabag guy. Of course I bought it. It was a small part but the point is the same - people can either be greedy or reasonable. It was an important part to me in my restoration.

Kiwigtx sold me the part and I appreciated his integrity. Thx Roger!

I don't mind what anyone asks for their parts. If I need it, I decide whether or not to buy it. If I choose not to, it doesn't affect me in the least. I've never been forced into purchasing something that I thought was too expensive.
