You have the gen 1 Pertronix without current limiting so you will need a ballast resistor. The instructions don't say what size ballast resistor/coil you need, it only says you should use a points style coil.
To be on the safe side you shouldn't have less resistance than than what your standard points system setup has (ballast resistance + coil resistance).
If you use a new coil with less resistance than the standard coil, you will need a ballast resistor with higher resistance than the original, to avoid the current becoming too big for the Pertronix.
What he said. That being said, converting to the Ignitor II will be likely if/when you leave the key on when the engine is not running. Ask me how I know!
