Hey everyone, took some pictures today, both shiny side and the dirty side.

Seems replacing the points cured the backfiring but now i have a slight miss at idle, gaped them at .018, grrr. May just be fouling a plug too.

The bottom of the car looks pretty sound, everything is undercoated, Trans pan was leaking a bit, tightend those bolts, rear end was leaking a bit, some of those bolts were loose too, tightened them also. Cant deciper the casting on it.

The trans linkage was kinda mickey moused though, let me know what you guys think. I think a set of PST bushings etc are in order too.

Cant see the casting numbers on the block, but pictures can be found here.

Your new car looks awesome. What are you plans after the mechanics are sorted?

I just saw the shift linkage with the hose clamps. That will be a issue down the road. I would maybe look for a good used replacement. The slight miss could even be something as simple as a burnt plug boot causing a short to the headers. Also, where does the valve-cover breather hose go in the pic?

Yeah, i was thinking that too, kinda thinking about a pistol grip and linkage. With the wires zip tied together it could be shorting anywhere. When i glanced at the breather i assumed it went down to the collector on the header, but i looked down there and it is just open.

I hate it when people do a great job on the body and then take short cuts with stuff like the plug wires and breather hose.

Gotta get some wire looms and a carb kit, looks like the valve covers may be leaking a bit.
