Yeah, and believe me, parrots are freaking smart. I've had this parrot for 19 years and I'm still amazed at some of the things he does. He lost his eyesight a couple years ago, but he hasn't skipped a beat. At about 30 years old, he could live another 30+ years. To think I bought him for a couple hundred bucks from a couple that didn't want him, and was neglecting him.

Ha! that's awesome!!

that second pic he's just chillin'...or tripped on the dish! lol

That is awesome. I've always wanted a parrot, even better that he is a rescue!!

Most of them are a lot of work, I lucked out... this one is quiet and non-destructive. When I got him, he hated people - wanted nothing to do with me. But I could quickly tell that he was abused and neglected, because in about two weeks he did a complete 180º and it was evident that he had been hand trained at one time.

A few weeks later the couple invited my g/f and I over for a barbecue, when they saw a picture of me holding Rocky the girl asked, "you mean he lets you hold him??" She disappeared and a couple minutes later they wanted him back and offered me $400. I laughed and told them no way. The barbecue was over five minutes later, they were actually mad at me for not giving the bird back to them! They had him two years and he hated people. I had him two weeks and he loved people. Says a lot about how they treated him!

Do you have those birds in the wild in the US? We have millions of them over here, see em every day.

They've been known to live as long as people and are great talkers....just be careful what you teach them to say............

haha.. yeah, I used to do an educational show at the county fair and try to discourage people from buying a bird. I used to tell them "there are two kinds of parrot owners: those who love birds and those who love the attention they get from owning a bird."

There's only one native parrot here, and a few years back they banned the importation, so most that aren't hand raised are confiscated birds from people trying to smuggle them in. That's another sad, sad story.. you wouldn't believe how people try to bring baby parrots into this country.

I have a friend in Australia who feeds the Lorries and cockatoos. Would you believe that a female gallah here in the US can fetch as much as $2600? They're like pigeons there! lol
