Pinion snubber, yes or no?

I have read many conflicting threads on whether a pinion snubber is needed/wanted on a street car. I have brand new General Spring rear leaf springs with a built 340, 3000 stall, 3.91 gears in a 72 RR. Is a pinion snubber needed? I want to prevent axle windup (if I even have the HP to cause it) but don't want the snubber banging anytime I hit a bump in the road. I won't be racing at the track but would like to be able to mash the throttle every once in a while. It's an easy install and cheap -- and Ma put them on all her cars for a reason -- but not sure if the benefits outweigh the possible nuisances. Any input would be appreciated.

For what you're saying, I would always recommend a stock pinion snubber. I have put a taller adjustable one on, and that hit with almost every bump. Put the stock one back on, never heard it hit since then.

You want to produce the driveshaft from that rotation, so I would put a stock one on unless you dropped the rear a lot for some reason.

Let's just say I dumped the clutch once to light them up and heard an awful thumping on the floor!! Can't imagine how much wheel hop I would have had without the snubber.

You can also clamp the springs if sock appearance is not an issue. The pinion snubber is a cheap easy install for an added benefit/protection. Based on your combo above an adjustable would be a waste of money imho......

Not to hiack your thread but would one be suggested for a high hp car? 700ish hp, 4 link rear suspension

A pinion snubber is there to resist axle windup (leave spring wrap), a 4 link doesn't wrap so no as moparnation stated. You've already eliminated the problem.
