I bought a Hurst shifter mechanism some say not for pistol grip shifter handle.
What is the difference?

The handle itself will have 2 bolt holes, if your shifter mechanism doesn’t have that, they won’t work together.

We had one that just broke. Hurst lever two holes on the bottom and male threads on top. Had an aluminum Hurst pistol grip that threaded onto the lever. This was on our E body.

It's a 2 bolt for a b-body. Thought maybe bolt holes were spaced different or base where it bolts to shifter mechanism was wider?

70 is a slide in no bolts

As far as I know (and I just looked on Brewers' site to confirm), there's only one two-hole shifter handle mounting.
Speaking of which, I'd love to find a reasonably priced pistol grip handle for mine.
The classic white Hurst ball is fine and all and of course the pistol is wrong for my '68, but I do so miss having one.

I think the shifter mechanism itself is the same and depending what vehicle/trans you install it on you use different mounting plates and rod linkage parts.
I am not meaning dead stock original here.
You should be able to buy a repro Hurst shift lever and it will fit provided the installation kit is correct one.

A 1 of 11 71’ Hemi Cuda’s would do just fine, lol!
