Hey, guys...

I wanted to give my '74 318 a mild upgrade when I rebuild it... specifically I wanted to raise the compression ratio a bit, sticking with the stock heads. I couldn't find anything specifically for that motor that had a compression distance that came close to getting flush with the deck, but searching on pin size found me these for 60s Dodge truck motors:

To my inexpert eye, they appear to be an option to add compression to a motor without having to spend the extra $$ for hypereutectics... any opinions? I know it's best to just buy the more expensive pistons, but I'm trying to not blow the bank.

For a poly motor.

Valve reliefs won't line up.

that is not a pic of the actual piston.actual piston has a .090 dish that is 3 inch dia.if that is what you are looking for then yes they will work.have you checked with summit to see if those will actually increase compresion?they are dished after all.maybe call sealed power if you are not sure.summit tech line is not bad as well.

Ah... <sigh> Makes sense.

And yeah, I didn't see what volume the dished pistons were, could be it negates the compression height benefit over flat-top stock 318 pistons. I'll just wind up spending another 200 bucks and get the hypers probably...

Thanks, guys!
