Problem: Pitman arm worn out
Solution: replace it but apparently somebody swapped in a large spline steering box from who knows what. I think everything after 73 had the large splines but I'm not sure about that. The old one looks identical to the new except for the splines, I guess what I,m asking is what should I be asking for? Will any B body after 73 work or should I be asking for a c body arm?

I get confused on this, is the spline people refer to the output for the pitman only? or is the spline for the input / steering column as well?

I ask because I brought a rebuilt steering box and the input spline is bigger than the original I had and wouldn't mate up to the column. I ended up reusing my original. Is that rebuilt box a large spline box?? or is that out of a different car?

I was refering to the output shaft on the steering box, the pitman arm is smaller on a correct 69 and someone before me has swapped in a 73 and up box so the pitman arm needed to have the large splines. I'm not sure about the column.

Thanks Bill, I was hoping that the column spine changed with the pitman arm, that would explain what I have but I guess not.

This just happened to me. Someone must have swapped in a 1973 and later power steering box. I Got The Right Pitman Arm for A 68 Satellite and doesn't fit. It's a 1 1/8 and the 73+ box uses a 1 1/4. Just ordered a new pitman arm for a 73 by Moog from Summit for 40 bucks.
