This beautiful 64 fury of yours,got me thinking about the person that ordered this car from the dealership(which you could do then)and said I want a luxury Fury convertible, ,black,with black interior,white top,standard V8,,but this is where it gets interesting,,3 on the tree,,,,I like this guy,,he does not go with the normal flow,and could of said ,push button auto,but 3 speed standard ,on the colume, in my luxury car,,,THAT'S what makes this car Different ,,not because 318's and 3 speed standard's are rare,,but are in this combination!You have a great find.

It would appear to be the 64th car off the line in 1964 as well? I'm guessing this was a special order car, and I'd be willing to bet there are not many around like it. The guy who owned it before me passed away and his family had the auction so the back story wasn't completely there. His Name was Ben SnoBar and I bet a lot of your know who he is he had over 86 cars mostly mopar. He also started a shaker hood company that is still operating today. At the car auction most everything he had was geared towards speed and racing (everything but the 64 fury and a couple others ) when his son told me he was not allowed to even look at the fury or lift the car cover for 25 plus years I knew it had to have been something special for ben not to alter it or make more power. He had hemi motors for days in the shop no joke look up Ben SnoBar auction or. Enjoy SnoBar car collection in Tumwater WA. Either way I agree 100% to alter this car would not be right. I have other cars with power this car is amazing as she is!

The 0064 is part of the sales order number, not part of the production process. The VIN gives some sort of order as to a general time the car was built.
VINS are not an indication of sequential build but are assigned, roughly, sequentially.
The 0423 tells us the car was scheduled to be built on April 23, 1964.

You are on to something now,,,,,if this guys had a lot of high performance car and kept this Fury stock,with 3 on the tree,,,THERE was a reason,,,it's not like a one of one 71 hemi in a barn find, but still will be fun finding out how many were made with the same combination! GOOD LUCK

The v/2 code tells us this was an ordered car but not a special order car.
The 318/3 was simply the standard set up for that car. The buyer simply chose not to add to the cost of the car by selecting an optional engine or transmission.
Three on the trees were quite common at that time as they were the basic low cost set up. We had numerous three speeds in our family. I would venture to say that most members on here over 55 (50?) probably learned to drive with a 3 speed or owned a car that had one.
You have a very nice example of a base car that has been well cared for and with provenance. There cannot be many like it. I'd love to see it sometime.
