Please help before i burn my car to the ground, i have replaced all my wire harness from classic industries and i am still having a problem. I have also replaced my neutral safety switch and starter relay. For some reason now i have no lights either. I have a 74 Charger with a new 30 over 383 and a 727 new from the trany shop. I have replaced every wire in the car and all the grounds are tight and on metal not paint; i am at a loss guys. The seat belt switch is unhooked both from the switch and the seat as well. Please if you have ran into this before give me some place to start. Thank you

Is it burning the fusible link ?
IMO I would put the headlamps on a relay, Its Better way to go.

get the wiring diagram out with your multi meter and follow the power as all it takes is one wire wrong or miss labeled

We need some more detail. Other than the lights not turning on, you never actually say what other problems you're having. You mention the neutral safety switch so I guess it's not turning over?

You need to explain the problem a little better.....electrical problem are a pain in the ***... It’s a slow process, you must isolated , disconnect, trace & repair.....Getting a good electrical diagram &, a good test light & meter is a must....you have stated replacement of harness & no power to lights..... Start.....Headlights(dimmer) gets power from the headlight switch.....Check breaker for power, If you have power there. it’s either the bulkhead connection or something forward in the harness towards the headlite connection.., a socket at the headlites grounding not properly.......head light relay

More info please.

Sorry guys, the car will only turn over if i use a screw driver; and it does not start. No lights on the out side of the car front or rear will come on however i have dash lights.

This could be multiple issues but I would star with the headlight switch. Does the pink wire have 12v? This wire brings power from fuse box and distributes it to headlights AND tail lights.

Ok, so it starts when you jump the relay with a screw driver. Here's what I would do:

1) make sure the yellow from the ignition switch has 12v in start and run position.
2) with the car in park and in neutral, make sure there is continuity between the NSS lead and ground. Make sure there is NOT continuity when it's in gear or rev (though it sounds like this last part isn't your prob, best to check it now).

Btw, those links wouldn't work for me so I reposted them

check to see if your high beem switch is shorted out.was a recent thread with that being the problem for someone with similar issues.

Is it doing the same thing AFTER you replaced the wiring harness?

Another words:
Did you have this issue and REPLACE WIRING HARNES and you have the same issue?

I don't want to really put a damper on your situation as these types of problems can be nothing but an *** pain. I am not familiar with Classic Industries offerings for replacement harnesses. That is because there is only one type of OEM reproductions that I would recommend to use...M&H harness sold exclusively through Year One. Price? You bet they are expensive!!! However, the cost in blood pressure and stress is far more greater with the other offerings out there than with the M&H. Basically a plug n play set up and after a few little bugs they work like a champ. With the addition of the MAD Electric Ammeter bypass, and some headlight relays wired in, you shouldn't have any issues. So now you have what you have. What to do? Get yourself a color wiring schematic for your car and along with the FSM...Factory Service Manual...go through each circuit and path and make sure that all is hooked up accordingly and color coded correctly. It sucks I know, but when it comes to the electrical aspects of any type of machine, it must be done right the first time otherwise you will be experiencing exactly what your are. It is just possible that your harnesses were not built correctly and you have the wrong circuits wired incorrectly via the color codes. Good luck and I know most here including myself will gladly help you get through this. It ain't any fun...DAMHIK...cr8crshr/Tuck

Thanks for all the suggestions, the old harness was a really bad rats nest. It was a mix of Painless wiring and OE stuff from several different years. The car did run at times but i would loose power all over the place intermittently, almost every part on the car is new. The only thing i have not replaced yet is the ignition switch in the column. The lights did work with the old harness and the car did start. I will keep you all updated, i will not be able to look at the car until the weekend; so please keep the ideas coming. Thank you all

Ok a found an hour to look at the car again, I plug in the high low switch and retightened all the grounds and now I have lights. I removed the neutral wire from the starter relay and hooked up a temporary ground and nothing. It will still turn over with a screw but not at the key. I am going to replace the starter relay again, will see.

Whoa there. The simplest thing to test is if you even have 12v at the yellow wire on the start relay with the key in start and run positions. If you do... then sounds like your relay might be dead. If you don't, don't waste your time and money on the relay.

Hi. Were you able to get it going? I have a similar problem. I have a 71 Roadrunner with a 440. It recently just stopped wanting to turn over. The only way I can start the car is like you mentioned, with a screw driver. I was also told to replace the relay. It came in today, but still does not turn over with the key. The only thing I changed recently was that I had an electric fan installed. It stopped working the next day. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Tough to say how the fan affected the starter, but read my comments and the other up above. The starter relay might be the easiest thing to test - get a multimeter and test that yellow wire in run and start position. Then get back to us.

Ok I checked the yellow wire for voltage today, it has voltage and it fluctuates up and down. I rechecked all my grounds and still a nogo, I also checked the neutral safety wiring harness and my connection to the switch it self. Everything is tight and clean.
