That is a very useful thorough link. :thumbsup:
Three things caught my eye:
a. there were only two shifts for casting
b. Shifts were only 8 hours
c. no mention/explanation was given in this link for the reoccurring large #6, seen after the casting number, and also found on front valley wall and elsewhere on the block

I read here recently and unconfirmed that the #6 designates the casting station

done on a 340 casting.

What I do know is that this is the only number we use on our
360 Stock/SS engines other than R blocks.

In our testing the bores thickness and core shift thrust direction were "generally"
much better than the later 360 blocks by and large.

I have read articles that dismiss this, but this has been my experience the last 50
years.

This is my 1972 360 block. I was unaware of how desirable it was when I bought it decades back. IMO it looks like it had casting core from a 340.
The results below are from a reputable Engineering testing lab.

I pulled this years ago from a friends car that was wrecked and I had known that the engine and trans was good. So now years later I have collected more 360s than I will ever need. Your info helps a lot on what to keep and what to get rid of or junk if I have to.. I have this other 360 that I really dont know the history that supposedly came out of a RV or something, maybe I will get rid of that one. I will start looking into exactly what that one is. Thanks to you and everyone so much.. Jay
 
Thanks for the help,. How about some thoughts on this one. I acquired this engine a few years ago with some stuff I needed in a package deal. This appears to be 1976 model but I don't get any stamps from the left front of the block.

Do I have the 73 with automatic transmission I pulled years ago and this one. If you were going to keep one which one would you sell and for how much? Thanks again
