This is my 1972 360 block. I was unaware of how desirable it was when I bought it decades back. IMO it looks like it had casting core from a 340.That is the desirable early 360 block.
Folklore says this part # was the only one
done on a 340 casting.
What I do know is that this is the only number we use on our
360 Stock/SS engines other than R blocks.
In our testing the bores thickness and core shift thrust direction were "generally"
much better than the later 360 blocks by and large.
I have read articles that dismiss this, but this has been my experience the last 50
years.
