Please help me make the right decisions

Does the motor currently run? 66,000 is what I would consider low miles, and still good for another 40K or so.

You could save a lot by simply running it without rebuilding.

4.88 gears is a real good way to drain your wallet real fast as well. So is dual quads.

If it were me, I'd consider a modern, split profile cam, one step below the 284/484, and see how it ran.

You'd probably be in the 275+ NET HP range with all sorts of torque and be pump gas friendly.

I'd also stick with a 3.55 rear and a low stall converter 2K or maybe even stock.

66/67 non-Charger B bodies are pretty light.

You might be surprised how well it does.

Yes the engine runs and only had 66,000 miles on it but I don't know how it was taken care of. It had consistent compression through all the cylinders. I wanted to use the dual carb intake because they look cool and since I already have it, it will save me some money. That is the reason I was going to use the 4:88 gear. I can always change the gear as I get the extra money.

I have a set of 915 heads have them at the machine shop now the guy is telling me that the largest he can go with installing hardened seats is a 2.08 if he goes to 2.14 he won't be able to install a hardened seat. Does anyone know if this is true. Sorry if I hijacked your thread

I don't see why you can't install a hardened seat with a larger valve, such as a 2.14 intake or 1.81 exhaust. I'm sure it's been done.

Don't use those old mopar cams. Things have changed....A LOT.
