Hi all,
I have a 64 ragtop and am planning on dropping in a BB in the near future, but I'm having trouble deciding what wheels would look right on a convertible. I was thinking of going to 15" center cap ralleys but can't decide if that would look right. I have 14" magnums on it now which I don't care for and I have original 14" spinner hub caps which might be okay if I could get steel rims wide enough for some wider tires. Thoughts?
Here's a few pics....

Personally I like the look of the 15" Magnums but also I like Torq Thrust and Cragar SS. Good luck.

beautiful car! hard to beat Cragar SS or Torq Thrusts on that body.

The look I went with was drag lites for my 64 Dodge. Food for thought.

The Drag Lites do look good on it. I also like the Torque Thrust up front and steelies in the rear look on the 62 to 65 Mopars. It kinda gives the 62 to 65 Mopars a more period correct look if you are going for that look. Good luck with it. Ron

Good ideas & great pics...thanks! I love the drag car look but doesn't seem right on a ragtop to me. Maybe a sleeper look with the spinners? The Cragars might be the way to go though. They look good on just about any 60's car imo.

IMO, spinners look classy on a ragtop yet meaty with a 275/60-15 rear tyre on 8" rim (4.5" back space) and 225/70-15 front tyre on 7" rim.

These are Wheel Vintiques Style 63 (OE Chrysler) from Summit and way to go with plenty of widths and back spacings available and great value. BUT they are 15" (which is better for tire options) and WILL NEED doctoring to fit 14" hubcaps. Can be done and IS worth the effort if you can handle a grinder and a welder.

I basically followed the procedure as in the link. Kudos to the original guy that thought of doing it in the first place. However, rather than cut the donor rims with a jigsaw, I used a grinder with a cut-off wheel. I bolted a front spindle and hub to a saw horse and spun the donor rim with a variable speed drill, pulley and fan belt whilst cutting. Agricultural, but it worked well. Also, I didn't bother with the plywood jigs. The rings fit into the 15" wheels so well it was easy to keep them true whilst tack welding them in with the TIG.

Not a great picture but just to give you another option. Weld Pro Stars would look good. But Steelies, Cragars, Magnums all look good on these cars.
And that's a great looking car, like the blue on blue.

I'm going to have these on the front and colour coded 15" steelies on the rear.

Sorry, here's the pic

I was thinking about Cragar with spinner caps...thanks for the pic!

I'm a fan of body colored steelies and/or drag lites
