Now that you mention it, I think they are stickers or painted on. They are Michelin tires but still cool

That would be “fossil” school for me, haha. I had a 49 Plymouth coupe with a 54 331 hemi. Wish I never sold that car.

Radials will typically blow out when they fail in my experience. Bias ply tires do not. If my car was designed for bias, I generally choose them.

I’m an old school guy for my GTX as well. I decided to run what I did back in the day as respects poly glass bias tires. I’m running Goodyear L60 15 on the back and E60 15 on the front of the RWL variety. They’re not cheap I’ll tell you that but I also get a lot of compliments on them and think they ride just fine.....

They look geat ! and I do agree with you, however I had such a hard time having them to balance, too much road force over 15lbs, had an on car balance was not good enough. I did get some money back from Coker, later sold the set to a guy. thanks for the pictures.

As with most products they change through out their production runs. The early one had the tire size, but was removed on later runs. All years are available. My application is for the mid 70's style.

Darn good reason for that to. Maybe if I owned a trailer queen with no intention of driving it and just wanted the look. Otherwise I seen the ligjt. Glass Belts no way.

A member here blow up and old tire a few days ago he didn't now that tires have a expire date, the rubber gets brittle and the tire crack inside please buy new ones.

I haven't seen those tires since the eighties ?? They were discontinued in the seventies. Radial tires oem since 1974. Nobody can see them unless you are parked. That is also the safest thing you can do.
Technology marches on. Why have a brake system that takes a much longer distance to stop ?? Safety second? Tires that don't grip ?? Just for the looks and opinion of obvious non car people ? eg "I haven't seen those since the eighties " Really?

Then I guess nobody should drive old cars???? Why would anybody drive an old car when you can drive a newer car that’s much safer? I actually like the way the bias ply handle because you actually have to DRIVE. Sounds like you’re in the wrong hobby if you’re worried about stopping distance and tires haha. You can buy a new challenger with all the modern stuff that much much safer then an old muscle car

Yep, I heard and read a bunch of warnings and tales of woe about bias ply tires. The simple fact is that most of the guys talking and posting about them were just regurgitating information that they heard or read.

The important aspect of running bias ply tires is to have the car properly aligned for the bias ply tires. We have an old school alignment shop in Cleveland that knows how to align a front end for bias ply tires.

To the OP, I would buy new tires as opposed to fooling with retreads

This tread is about your old tires in your old car I think we are all aware about the cons of our old cars vs the new one's and we drive them for a lot of reason , but I believe I spoke for everyone here, safety first no wonder the vast majority of owners here do the front disk brake swap and the same goes to the old tires they are not safe at all but in the end is your car my .02 cent

Nothing heard or read just my experence. Strange thing is I have never changed alignment just on count of different tire construction. Yep still set at 72 glass belt specs and steel radials. I have gone back to one set of glass belts. Never again.

If someone doesn’t like them it’s pretty simple - don’t run them. Mine are not 45year old tires. They’re new reproduction tires. I’ll get rid of them when the new date code says their life span is up. Then I’ll buy another set of new reproduction polyglas tires. Yeah I like the look and think they ride just fine. The only problem I have is I’ll probably have to swap them out when they look brand new cause I don’t drive the car much and as I said earlier they ain’t cheap. But then again that would be the same problem if I bought new top of the line radials. Ignorance was bliss it just wasn’t safe....
