Popping noise right front brake! Need ideas

All new 10 in. drum brakes 65 Dodge Coronet, wheel cyl brake shoes,drums good. Taken spindles & drums from a 66 dodge.

Is it possible to have backing plates on the wong side? Shoes have dobeen check for correct placement against my 65 dogde
service manual. This is really giving me fits. Any ideas? Thanks!

I would be double-checking that the shoes are the correct way around, likewise the shoe auto-adjuster, and spring configuration. I'm no expert but it sounds like the internals are fighting the drum. Remember both sides (front or rear) are a mirror image of each other.
