Post up facts and things that hardly anyone knows...... (for entertainment purposes only. NO need to fact check)

I'd offer to perform test fittings for the ladies with genital alopecia.

The name Beatrice “Tilly” Shilling may not be known to many, but she played a pivotal role in helping the Allied forces in World War II. Shilling was a talented engineer who, after being one of only two women to earn an electrical engineering degree from the Victoria University of Manchester, joined Britain’s Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE). It was there that Shilling devised a simple yet pivotal solution for an issue with British fighter planes. During sharp maneuvers, fighter jets such as the Hurricane and Spitfire would often stall out, so Shilling came up with a way to restrict fuel from flooding the engine. Later known as "Miss Shilling's orifice," the invention went on to give Allied pilots a crucial edge in dogfights against the fearsome German Luftwaffe.

That has the feel of a joke that I don't fully understand.

For any Electricians out there - the Soft Starter for AC induction motors was invented by a New Zealander. (In a nut-shell) apparently NASA was having trouble get their big motors started and needed a way to reduce current consumption. They put out a worldwide call to solve the problem and it was a Kiwi who solved the problem and subsequently took out a number of patents to cover his work.

Every Soft-Starter that you use now has it roots in a New Zealand invention. The man has been running his own business 'Advanced Motor Controls' for quite a few years now.

....and just like the argument over the first human to achieve sustained powered flight, the Kiwi won't be mentioned in the history books.

If you're referring to Pops' image ^^^..... twice a year from the wife. :poke:

Although the pyramids of Egypt are well known, the rough, brown appearance that we recognize today was not the way that they were built. This is the Great Pyramid at Giza, which for 4,000 years was the world's tallest man made structure.

After the original construction, the entire outer surface was clad in polished limestone, gleaming white in the sun. In addition, the top was covered in a layer of electrum, an alloy of gold and silver, looking like a capstone jewel.
