Post up facts and things that hardly anyone knows...... (for entertainment purposes only. NO need to fact check)

Most large passenger ships can run at about 20 knots, which made them a lot faster than sail boats. About 500 nauticle miles per day.
But, many modern sail boats do 600 or more miles per day.
Making a sailboat the fastest for a round the world time.
Cruise ships today are slower, but the RMS Queen Elizabeth usually did 28.5, Queen Mary could cruise at 30 knots as did the SS France and the USS United States also cruised at 30, but at full power managed 43 knots (49 mph).

Agreed, but the fastest sail boats often hit 50.
The sailboats get around tne world fastest, because they do not need to stop for fuel.
To save on fuel, the cruise boats often travel at 15 / 16.
I was on one two weeks ago.

The RMS Queen Mary's top speed was 32.5 knots. During World War II, the Queen Mary was the largest and fastest ship used to transport troops.

The RMS Queen Elizabeth, the younger sister of RMS Queen Mary, was not permitted to be documented as faster than her sister ship. :blah:

The SS United States' top speed was 38.32 knots. We know it was faster than reported.
:)

Part of the speed secrecy was because the ship was planned to be quickly converted to a troop carrier in case of conflict, and used some classified navy designs in the engines.

Early Toyota's came with a trouble light that plugged into the outlet in the glove box. I also heard they had an electric razor but could
never verify it.
