Poverty Caps Fit OEM Ford Wheels?

If the center hole is the same size as what came from the factory, then the Ford wheels won't fit your Mopar....

I called Wheel Vintiques and they told me that the hub diameter on their Ford wheels is 3". I believe the stock Chrysler diameter is 2.875" so if the sales guy knew what he was talking about (somewhat doubtful) it looks like these wheels will at least fit on the Chrysler and be more of a lug-centric mount rather than hub-centric. Of course, there are no returns whatsoever with these guys so I can't try them and send them back if they don't work. Has anyone used these?

If not, what are people using to fit the larger OE dog dish caps with 15x7 or 15x8 wheels?

You buy 15x5 or 15x5.5 a100 van wheels. Remove the spot welds that holds the center to the wheel shell and install/weld to a different wheel shell. You can buy new wheel shells at speedway motors.

That is what I did, welded them to 10 inch wide hoops. You can also epoxy the late model caps inside the early caps.

rear caps off 3.jpgIf you weld a short length of 1/2" round stock to the outside of the hubcap locating nubs on later Mopar wheels, the early caps fit perfectly.

The early ford wheels have the smaller hub / and mopar has the bigger hubs thats why they wont fit, i have ford wheels and they wont go over the hub, although they are the same lug pattern, i believe late model wheels will fit.

I have a set of Ford 14 x 8's and had to have the center machined bigger to fit a Mopar.

I have a set of 15x4.5" wheels on the front of my '65. They look like they are original wheels. The best part is they are 5 on 4.5" bolt circ. and take
a 9 & 5/8" cap like the pre-'66 wheels do. I bought a bunch of them from a "Studebaker" collector.
Mid 60's Dodge 1/2 ton had 16" wheels with the bumps for a 9&5/8" cap. Because of the larger cap about the same amount of paint is exposed so they don't look out of place.
WEDGIE- did you actually weld pieces of tube to the wheels? Got any pictures?
Thanks
