Power Brake booster/PCV Valve Hose routing

I was at a car show this weekend with my 1964 Polara 500. A guy came up and informed me that the vacuum hose to the Power Brake booster & PCV valve was routed incorrectly. On my car the hose comes out of the back of the carburetor then tee's and one line runs to the PCV valve and the other to the Brake booster. He said the line from the carburetor should only run to the PCV valve and a separate line needs to come from the port at the #7 runner on the intake manifold to the brake booster. He said the way it is currently routed, due to the pulses, it will allow vapor to condense in the power brake booster and eventually ruin the diaphragm. Is this correct?
 
I was told the same thing. I run mine off the intake manifold now.

What he told you is correct,brake booster manifold vacuum only,PCV from carb
 
Yes basically its true but I have seen guys run it the other way since the 70's when you have an aftermarket intake and only have one intake vacum port like my dual plane Indy intake. Here is a pic of my old eng as I had to "T" into the rear carb PCV line with my old SD intake also. I stiil do it but run the PCV valve on the other valve cover with my 493 and its been this way since 2006 and never any roblems with my booster. It is also good if you can run the vacum line up like mine or put a loop in it to help keep any vapor fumes from laying in the line and running into the booster. Many cars used what looked line an inline filter in the vacum line to help pick up vapors that can harm the diaphram in te booster. I still use a PCV valve setup on my 493 and have thye brake booster line "T'd" into the PCV line that comes out the rear of the carb. Myself I have not seen anyone replace a booster with a bad diaphram on any of the cars with aftermarket intakes that have to use the PCV line. But if you have the seperate vacum port yes by all means use it. Ron

You can also se here on my Indy dual plane its not really any vacum ports on it to use. At first I just ran 2 breathers on my 493 but since I drive it on the street 99% of the time I wanted to hook my PCV back up.
