I'm thinking about installing a power brake booster on my '62 convertible. I have the correct booster. Do I need any additional parts? I can't remember if the push rod is the same for power and non-power brakes. Also, does the push rod mount in a different hole of the brake peddle lever. There are two holes about an inch apart on the brake lever.

Thanks!

Very nice car. I am just now converting to front disc brakes and a dual feed master cylinder. I was going to add power but couldn't find a booster. You wouldn't know where an extra is would ya LOL.

If you ever get the urge to sell that vert you look me up!

You can actually buy a rebuilt power brake booster for your '62 at your local NAPA store.

I was going to look up the NAPA part number and send it to you but it no longer shows up in their online catalog. I bought one at the local NAPA about a year ago. You may have to look around a bit but I think you can probably find one. I'll check with some of the '62 guys I know.

Do you happen to know if the disc brake dual master cylinder will fit the power booster or is a special cylinder required for power brakes? They appear to be the same.
Yes I can get the booster through NAPA. I just got one for my 75Ramcharger. I am sure the 62 is available too.
No clearance issues with booster?
Love to see more of your car.

Is your like this?

I'm not where my car is right now but I think my booster has only two master cylinder mounting bolts. I'll check it out and let you know tomorrow.

Yes quite a few I saw only had two. Thanks.

My factory booster has four mounting holes for the master cylinder. My car was converted to front disk a long time ago. I don't know for sure but I'm assuming the dual chamber master cylinder I have will work. There are no clearance issues with the original boosters as '62s had 361's installed. Here's a picture of the '62 booster. The A1 Cardone part number is 50-3533 but that includes a single chamber master cylinder. Autozone site shows they have them. http://www.autozone.com/1/products/407682-brake-power-booster-50-3533-cardone-reman-50-3533.html

Yes sir. I saw those as well. I may get one and see if it will work out. I am wondering if the push rod will bolt right up to the stock pedal? I'd replace the single with a dual mc, that might affect pushrod length.
Time to get one and test fit it.
Appreciate all your input Rick.

In the '62 parts books the brake push rod is not shown as a separate piece because it came as part of the master cylinder. The master cylinders for power brakes and non-power brakes are different. According to the parts book the support bracket on the fire wall behind the master cylinder is different depending on with or without power brakes. I do need a power brake support bracket.

A photo of a 62 / 63 booster. Yes the firewall bracket is different, not pictured.

my 63 is different. Mounting looks same but diaphragm is different

My photo is of a Midland-Ross, which I have seen as common on the 1962 B's. Also offered was a Bendix for the B bodies in 1963, and carried over to 64 +. The parts book doesnt show a Bendix in 62. I would have to investigate, but I think the push rod interchanges to the manual brakes

I order a disc brake conversion with the booster and master cylinder for my 65 coronet. Its a factory power brake car. Found out the plate on the fire wall is different and the brake pedal was different. Could of used the kit if I could get a manual brake pedal but decided to send the kit back and have the booster rebuilt.
