So I replaced my pitman shaft seal. It is still leaking even more than before. Is a full seal rebuild the fix? I cannot find any reman gearboxs anywhere in the US unless I wanna pay $600 which is not gonna happen.

I just pulled mine this weekend for a full reseal (that's the only way I'd do it) and yes I feel you on the 6 bills but it really is the way to go I'm just in situation now where I need to put money in other better places. Did you have any issues replacing the seal that would caused a leak?

The seal came out using a pick. No damage done to shaft. Someone told me my bearings are bad. Going to have a shop rebuild it for me new bearings and seals.

U have part number because the one i seen on there doesn’t even look like the original one I have.

So I removed the entire gearbox out of the vehicle yesterday. And I noticed the new seal and dust cover I installed are both bent possibly causing the leak. Do you think by installing the Pitman arm with an impact gun might’ve damaged the seal over torqued it?

Probably not, can you see any pitting on the shaft from rust? That’ll eat up a new seal pretty quick.

I didn’t see any I could be wrong. What do u recommend? Clean up shaft with sand paper?

Can’t hurt- 200+ grit.

Not if you lubed them on install. More like the shaft is 80grit ( from rust) working on seal.

I just hope the rebuild fixes the problem. I have no clue how they could bend maybe fluid pressure?

A re-man is about 160 to 200.00 at the parts store as mentioned earlier. 600.00? or send it to Steer and Gear for about 250.00 fully rebuilt much better, mine is now 6 years after the rebuild, I have no issues.Or buy one from lares Corporation.

Every part store I’ve been to AutoZone pep boys NAPA advance auto parts they all say they cant I get it because there are no cores out there to remanufacture. I will try the shop by near me for 100 bucks if it does doesn’t work out Ill go to steer and gear

So I think I know what the problem is trying to take out the retainer washer now seems like it’s has a high spot got one side and I can’t get out I think I wedged it in there too far used a punch to seat the seal.
