I also have this posted in the other section...but.....
I need this bracket (mount) for a power steering unit. I would think they are all pretty much the same for 383 thur 440. If the mounting bracket is in 2 parts (front and rear) I need both parts.
I have a Mancini Torque strap mounted off the motor mount lugs but I want to fabricate a Torque strap coming off the water pump housing bolt holes where this power steering bracket mounts. I can use it for the top part and use a rod and a second heim end like the Mancini Torque Strap to run it down to the frame rail to a fabricate a mount on the frame rail.
The Mancini Torque strap (which I show in the picture on the right) still allows the motor to rock a lot because it is so low on the block.
I have seen Torque Straps like I want to fabricate but they use only 1 of the available mounting holes on the water pump housing. I think my thoughts on this would be much more sturdy.
The bottom photo shows the mounting holes on my water pump housing that I want to use for the top part of the torque strap.
I do know that I could use a "motor plate" to accomplish the same purpose of making the motor more solid but I don't want to give up my alternator and I don't want to spend the money for a motor plate, alternator mounting kit for the motor plate and a small size powermaster alternator that would fit in where it has to go. I also know I could use Moroso steel motor mounts which I have already. Thanks again.
Let me know if you have one and how much.
Thanks, Mike
