Prep of AMD Valve

Anyone out there have any experience in prepping and painting new AMD valve covers? I recently purchased a set of reproduction valve covers for my 68 Coronet R/T from AMD and am looking for advice on best methods to "de-grease" them before applying a primer (not sure of best primer to use, etching or not?) and applying the factory 68 turquoise paint. Appreciate any insight from those who have done something previously.

Dry fit first,my 70 valve covers did not fit for dodo. I was soooo disappointed with AMD. good luck.

I also heard that the valve covers didn't fit properly and were discontinued.
