Anyone else had a problem with a Grant steering wheel adapter hub? I installed my steering shaft nut to 30ft lbs just as it states in the instructions. But then I took the wheel back off to look at the turn signal switch. After I was finished I put the wheel back on and torqued the steering shaft nut to 30 ft lbs of torque again. This time the hub slid down the shaft until splines where exposed through the top of the hub. I first noticed that my horn was sounding continuously. Then I noticed that my blinker lever would not move, and then I noticed that my steering wheel would not turn. I took it apart and this is what I saw. My hub smashing against my turn signal switch and grounding the horn to the column. I called Grant to see about buying just the hub and they said to send the kit back to Jegs. The hub seems to be made of some very soft pot metal and I actually had to run a tap into the shoulder bolt holes twice because they cross threaded under perfectly normal circumstances. Looks like next time I will keep the torque wrench in the tool box and just tighten it down until it feels tight and use lock tight.

I did mine by feel, but then took out the column and stored it resting on the wheel, and now the adaptor rubs the column. Could be a related problem. I'll have to open it up and check.
