On my 69 model 440, I've checked the part numbers on, water pump housing, p/s pump, and the brackets for the p/s pump. All are listed the right application.
I've also gone through 4 separate bracket sets, 3 the same type two-piece, 2 of those repops, and the one installed now, a good(?) used original.

Problem is, all of them give the same results, refuses to line-up with the crank pulley. Fairly close on the distance, but the p/s pulley is at a different angle, not with the crank pulley. Looking in line, from the driver's side, the driver side of the pump pulley is toward the rear, maybe near a 1/4".

What's the deal? And, the fix??

Sure you have the correct crank pulley?

Stock harmonic balancer?

Yes to all 4 questions.

For some reason, when mounting the p/s pump, with brackets, it's impossible to get it straight in line with the crank pulley. Sits at a slight angle, if looking at it from above.
Bolt holes in the bracket parts 'seem' not located right...but, on each bracket set? Hard to swallow. Pump is for a BB. And, yeah, I know many BB parts will interchange.

Your gonna have to put a couple of washers on the back of the pump, in between the bracket. That should do it.

Thanks, 5.7 hemi! I'll see if I can get it worked out...irritating.

Is that a common issue?

They can be....Somewhere someone sold a spacer kit I just cannot recall at the moment...

I had to do it on mine, kinda irritated me that I had to do it.

Mine didn't line up either. I drilled the pivot holes oversize to correct.

Are you mixing up brackets from an AC car to a non AC car maybe?

I tried that, on one set of re-pops, but ran out of metal. Was that bad. The used original set in place now, is the nearest, to lining up, but still not enough.

Nope, not that I'm aware. (The used set, was offered by one of the members, that I quickly grabbed.)
All three sets 'looked' the same...until bolted into place.

Irritating, that something so damn simple, is a fight, all the way. Don't help that I'm down to one (left) hand, right now. Have all the bolts loose again, and going to play with it. If I have to, I'll pull it again, to make it work!
Pretty much the last thing under the hood.

Got it!
I pulled the front half of the bracket, only mounting the pump, with the rear half. Only bolts are the ones across the back of the pump. The two 'legs' off the rear plate, along the inner side of the pump, that takes a bolt in each leg. Holes are off by 1/3, and if a bolt is forced into place, that pushes the pump back, and angled.
Going to elongate the bracket holes, and should be good. Yep, pulley lines up, now.

Thanks, guys! Beer time!!
