Thanks uncle! I sold that 318 and now need to sell the tranny too (727). It will be slow progress until the DOD works out my military retirement package and I can begin getting a paycheck. Should be soon.

Good wishs to you miz, That package will come in soon and spring time is just around... well the neighbors place :) it will get here and let the fun begin!

Hey Dave, yes it was a very solid car. I saw the ad for it about twenty minutes after the lady put it up. I bought it ten minutes after that! She got calls for a week all day long! Yayyyyy I got my retirement orders yesterday!!! I retire from the service on Feb 11th 2015. After 29+ years of service to my country. Hallluuuaaayyyaaaaaaa

Really enjoyed your post, keep sending those pictures. Looked like a nice solid original car.

I like it too, it adds interest to the car and is not something one would expect to see on a car. I used to have to pull all of the red covers off of inlets and exhaust opening on my chopper before flight and I think I might make some to plug the hoodscoop openings and link a "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" tape to each of them. lol.

Nice looking project for sure! And loving that Jet Fuel cap!

You are going to scare some rice burner guy with this thinking! If you use a vacuum set up, you can open.close inside the car HE he.... :)

Update......update......

Hello all, I have had some hiccups but now have my 67 back in MY garage. Here is an update since last post.... I am still fooling around with hood scoops and a cowl center hood. I also started the wheel mini tubs on the rear end. I have not gotten to blast anything yet but will soon. I need the underside to be clean before I start cutting into the frame for leaf spring relocation. The 24 gauge scoops turned out to be too flimsy and i'm now going to rework the 18 gauge ones to shape them up and will use them instead. Can't have all that horsepower making the scoops flap around...would not be cool.

Sweet build. Enjoy all the pics and commentary. Thx for taking the time to post it all.

IMG_0922.jpgHinges015.jpgUpdate....
I found some cancer under the hood skin so I separated the skin from the frame and have used a wire cup on my 4 1/2 " angle grinder to take all of the surface rust off and found a bit of cancer in one spot. Once I cut and patch that spot i'll shoot it all with Eastwoods rust converter and then epoxy primer. I have been playing around with the parts from a rear hood hinge assembly in an effort to cobble together a front tilting hinge. I just about have it right, the problem being the way the Coronet hood drops down along the front of the radiator support about 4 inches. The hood has to move OUT and also UP as it tilts to miss the support and the grille top. If I cant make it work it will cost 80.00 bucks to buy the hinges from Sachse Rod Shop. While I have the hood apart it's a great time to fabricate the tunnel ram area from the hood scoops inbetween the skin and the frame. I am going to use panel bond to place those bits. I made a map of all the spots where that splotch of goop was between the skin and frame. I bought a gallon of chassis black and epoxy primer with reducer and thinner.

Progress report...

Sorry about the lack of pics there. My buddy from up the road stopped by and we sat on lawn chairs in the garage door and talked about the Coronet. He said that he thought that I was trying to do too many things at once. Maybe so. I explained that my TBI causes memory loss and I don't always remember what I was doing the last time I worked on it, or what I planned to for an outcome. So when I go out to the garage I never know what I might get into. Makes it interesting. So, that's why, if you have been wondering, it seems like I bounce around and leave off one thing to start on another or change the plan midstream sometimes. Sucks but there isn't anything I can do about it. I tried to make lists and keep notes but then I lose the lists or forget to look at the notes. Sooo, anyway,...I see the hood skin and frame setting to the side and gather from that I must have worked on something else last time. LOL. I see that I have sewn up the right mini tub finally and removed the rear bumper finally. Oh, and what's this? A hole cut into the side of a perfectly good quarter panel? Yuck, yuck, just kidding I did that yesterday and remember it. I really liked the "gills" that Chip Foose placed on the front fenders of the Riddler Award winning Imposter Impala and decided to increase the depth of the fake side scoops on the Coronet. I also pulled the gas line off from under the frame. While I was staring at the side scoops I noticed that the wiring channel along the rocker was full of crap and cleaned it out. Also blew out the trunk extension drop off crevice.View attachment 273712View attachment 273713View attachment 273714View attachment 273715View attachment 273716View attachment 273717View attachment 273718View attachment 273719View attachment 273720

Nice progress.
Now hold the camera the other way around and we will see things better. LOL
