Proving it's a 68 Super Bee

The title did say Superbee on it, and matched the vin, but that must've been managed somehow, since the vin doesn't say it is.

very possible........ i had a 67 383 barracuda body with a sport fury vin....... the title said barracuda, but the vin was sport fury with the 383 engine code...... the rivets were tampered with, the vin tag was on the hinge pillar in 67 not on the dash.........

i assumed the car was stolen, re vin-ed with a 383 sport fury tag, and someone at motor vehicle heped them out by putting barracuda on the title.......... best i could tell, it happened in the 80s or 90s.........

i sold what i could from the car and scrapped the rest

I agree let it go. Drive it, sell it as a slant six car, whatever. Don't stir the pot. You might not like what comes up.

It's funny that those that think it's not a Superbee ignore the fact the VIN is obviously not original, and use the vin as the basis of their position. This is why I redsurrected this post. I just learned the rivet clue this week.

It's funny how you keep wanting to try to get your car viewed as a Super Bee when it clearly isn't.
You insist that because the VIN tag has been removed from the 'Super Bee' rallye dash frame that is some form of evidence it was born a Super Bee. It is just as likely (again, more-so likely in my personal opinion) that they simply put the Super Bee rallye dash into your Coronet, then re-attached the Coronet VIN tag to the dash to keep the car the same Coronet it always has been even though now it sports all the looks and performance of a factory line assembled Super Bee.

In my opinion this is a simple flub/typo. When I title old cars they always ask me what kind of car it is as they are typing it into their computer as the old titles rarely state it or they only have a few letters of the name. I could tell them anything and the counter-person wouldn't know the difference, or care.

I like WileErobbys comment- maybe 2Bnot2B would be the perfect plate for this car.

Regarding it being stolen, I guess if the vin is clear (which it is) and one cannot trace the original vin to the frame numbers, I guess we'll never know. If it was stolen, which I have no knowledge that it was, it would actually be cool to return it to the original owner.

Maybe it's time to put a modern hemi, coil suspension, and AC in this thing and drive it!
