Thank you for that info. Now... we have a washing machine that makes eerie alien squeaking sounds, and the control panel buttons light up and beep out of nowhere. Wonder if it's a homing device for the mothership ?

The stuff that causes the biggest problem with those fine filters is the dissolving coating on pods. If you use powder or liquid detergent you will have to clean that filter less often - MUCH less often.

Wow, how ironic. I literally just cleaned mine yesterday! I never really noticed it before. Needless to say, it was pretty disgusting!

Wow, thank you. I had no idea that this existed. I've lived here for 20 years and never serviced any dishwasher here or anywhere. This dishwasher sometimes fails to open the Pod door and the dishes are still dirty.

We've been hand washing for 15+ years. When we moved into our new pad in Ramona, it had all new GE appliances. After about a year, the DW would leave a white film on everything which required a redo by hand. We learned about the DW cleansers and ran those through. Was good for awhile, then started getting the film again. Said screw it and have been hand washing since.

Don't use pods. They don't dissolve every time. Like using pressed salt pellets for your water softener. Don't do it.

I think this may be good advice that I’d be smart to follow.
For almost all of our time in this house we have used the pods. I never find any plasticky bits on the dishes or on the inside of the DW but over the last 8 months or so, the pod door sometimes fails to open. Other times it might open late in the cycle and leave a partially dissolved pod stick to the door.
Since retirement, I’ve assumed dish duty so I’ll start using whatever the old stuff is. Was it just granules? It has been quite awhile.

Powder is best. Skip the liquids.

LOL, exactly what we do at the lake all summer. Red Solo cups, paper plates or nothing but a piece of paper towel for the morning English Muffin..

I use a mini dishwasher and have to occasionally give it an enema. Part of it is because I have hard water but it seems many machines can throw an error code, I think it’s E1 or similar, and it seems different brands use the same codes. Anyway the issue is slow water flow so the machine gives up and the fix is a plastic syringe with water and maybe a little vinegar that you back flush thru the little hole inside the machine to blast the water deposits away. It usually takes me 2 or 3 tries when it happens.
