When I start the car, the steering wheel will turn to the right a 1/4 turn. I also had a pull to the right. I just got the front end aligned and when it was on the rack (turntables) you could start the car and it would turn to the right all the way without touching the wheel. I have read about a valve in the steering gear that needs to be centered. Can't seem to find a thread about it. Has anyone had the same issue and could help? Thanks. I wonder if @Scott Engelhardt has run into this?

The valve on top of the steering box needs slid forward or rearward. I forgot which way. Slightly loosen it and move it. Then tighten and start the car. The end result is when both front wheels are off the ground and you start the car the steering wheel does not move either direction, it stays still.

Be careful when adjusting it. I remember someone who reached through the steering wheel to start the car while trying to test/adjust the PS valve position, and the wheel whipped around so quickly it fractured his fore arm. I think the factory manual will discuss adjusting the valve.

Thanks fellas. I remembered adjusting some valve but I couldn't find the info. I will be looking for a manual.

I would flush it out before doing anything with the valve. If your cheap like me just use hydraulic fluid.
Remove the return line and blow some fluid through it.

It has a new gear and pump. I moved the valve and it was worse so I adjusted it the other way and it's about 90% better. thanks for the help.

Slight movements make a big difference. Sounds like your on the right path.

I did the arm through the steering wheel things way back....don't do that. Lol
