I Have a 74 Charger SE with a 69 440 going into it the hard way (schumacker motor mounts)
I cannot seem to get any of my pulley's to line up with one another. I have a balancer from Summit and have to wonder if this is the culprit. Year One sells a pulley set that is supposed to be 4-9/32" from the water pump mounting pulley mounting surface to the face of the balancer. Ive got something in the area of 3-3/4"
So my question is... Can the crank (I have a forged crank) make a difference because of year?
Or is it more likely the after market balancer? Thanks in advance.

What kind of measurement are you getting from the point where the damper bottoms onto the crank to the pulley mounting face?? Are they on the same plane? I do believe all the crank snouts are the same length.

having the correct non A/C water pump pulley , which I'm assuming you have , and assuming no A/C , would be your starting point. alternator / water pump , inside crank pulley groove . power steering will ride on the outside crank pulley groove. if you are using the factory dual groove pulley on an aftermarket balancer and the factory water pump pulley is not lining up with the inside crank pulley groove , then you have your answer.
