I recently got a hold of a MOPAR Purlple Cam, but don't know the size. I don't have immediate access to any dial gauge or caliper set. What do the color dots on the cam represent? I have a blue, and a yellow dot on the same end. What do the numbers 220043, 1103, and a CWC mean. Each of these are either stamped or cast into the cam. Thanks

You can get a clue by determining the lobe height. With a micrometer, Measure the diameter of the base circle of a lobe. Then measure the distance from the bottom of the base circle to the top of the lobe. Deduct the smaller measurement (base circle) from the larger one, and you have lobe height! Multiply this by the rocker arm ratio (say 1.5) and you have valve lift. Give us this valve lift height and we can give you an idea of what cam you may have.

He said he didn't have access to a micrometer and was asking about decoding the dots.

Don't think you can determine the cam by the color dots, although I could be wrong. Try renting/borrowing a dial caliper from an auto parts store. Thats the best way to see what you have.

Thanks for the replies. I guess the exact meaning of these color dots will remain a mistery? They are proving to be the MOPAR unicorn. They are there for a reason, but what is it? I'll work on getting some measuring tools. Thanks again.
