This review is for the PUTCO brand Red 1157 replacement LED tail light bulb; the manufacturer's number is 241157R-360. They recommend an LED bulb the same color as the lens. I'm using these in the tail lights. So, I bought red bulbs. They come in a pack of two bulbs for $63 from JEGS here: http://www.jegs.com/i/Putco/730/241157R-360/10002/-1

Here's a photo of the bulbs:

You can see from the captions the regular incandescent bulbs on all four lights in the first photo:

The LEDs are on the right in the second photo:

Here's a short video showing the turn signal:

The bulbs are extremely bright. Notice the reflection off the driveway is much brighter from the LED bulbs on the right . The flash is also instant with the LED bulbs. The instant on and the brightness of these LED bulbs may give the driver behind me more time to stop. Especially, if he is distracted. The LEDs will definitely get his attention. For $30 each they are not cheap. There is a lifetime warranty from PUTCO. I'm willing to spend a little extra now for the LED bulbs if it means saving my precious Coronet from a rear end collision. I recommend these bulbs.

P.S. The speed of the flasher is not affected by these LED bulbs.

P.P.S. You can buy similar Plasma LED bulbs a lot cheaper here (2 for $25) but I have not reviewed them. http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/plasma2.html

I don't know if anything will prevent idiots from rear ending someone, as I learned on Friday when a guy not paying attention rear ended me in my 06 GTO and it has four brake lights, one of the 3rd lights is led and really bright, but he still hit me!!!

I do like your review and they look good! Thanks for posting!

Well when you get them do a review let us know which ones are brighter. thanks

Started another thread about my taillights and just bought the bulbs based on this thread. Thanks.

Thanks Mechanic for your thread & review... Thinking I'm going to give them a shot up front and in the back.

Thanks Goon for the price shopping find at Summit.

Okay now I'm confused I'm seeing PUTCO bulbs same part number but different looking pieces

Thanks Mechanic!

I think I'd stick with the one's you've already reviewed too and from better known suppliers like Summit/Jegs

These are definitely going on my list and since I'd been considering Digitails these are a lot cheaper :)

I was just about to order them today but looked at Shipping & Customs charges and think I'm going to wait till I'm getting other stuff from Summit.

With the currency conversion 2 pairs of bulbs comes out to $150 Canadian and another $45 Canadian tax & duties. :(

Thanks for the review! When I first saw the Summit link and the $54.99 price tag, thought WOW it would cost $330 to put bulbs in a '66-67 Charger with 6 bulbs in the rear. After a little reading they are $54.99 for a pair.

I know LED's run cool, but with these being so bright do they run hot?

I just received the other pair from Jegs today. I decided to stick with the same brand for both sides in case there is a brightness difference.

I'll let you know if they feel hot first chance I get.

In your PS are you saying that you do not need to switch to a low load flasher with these bulbs?
Thanks.

What's a PS?

No need for a new flasher with the Putco bulbs. Just plug and play. (I don't know about front turn signal bulbs since I did not change them.)

Sorry, the PS I was referring to was in your original post. Thanks for the reply. Good to know that no flasher change was needed. I wonder if that is because you only changed the rear, and the incandescent in the front still created enough load to signal the flasher to work properly. Anyway thanks for the great review and information.

I did all four corneers on my truck and had to put the front incandecents back in up front until i change out the flasher relay for one that supports cree leds, got one with a beeper built in(see links). Huge difference on the light output. Now my motorcycle have em and redid all the lighting in the camper. Went cheap on the bulbs though and haven't had any problem but a tailight on my boat trailer when the housing leaked... they do not like to get wet... http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-BAY15D-...ash=item233e177c8c:g:~9sAAOSwo6lWQaf0&vxp=mtr
