Has anybody ever used a Richmond trans behind a 440 ! i am interested in possibly putting one in my 65 satellite, Found it craigslist, Questions are.

1, do i have too cut my hump

2, is the shifter in the stock location

3, any useful tips

if its like the 5 speed i think there's a bunch of whacking and fabbing a mount.

front wheels.jpgrear wheels.jpgi went on Richmond's web page today and found a ratio calculator to figure out my RPM speeds in over drive,
(6th gear) in my case a .76 gear so with, 3.55 @ 75MPH with a 26 inch tall tire (246/60-15) the RPM=2600 not to bad, now one mite think that RPM's should be lower ! but really heres where the fun begins because ther are a lot of options today in tire size & wheel combo, and i would love to stick to a mid 60's look on this 65 satellite, so now playing with there calculator again, if i use a 28 inch tall tire "2 inches taller" , my RPM's=2400 @ 75MPH that i can live with.

then i decided to see what if @ 150MPH ! WOW i don't think so ! but just haven some fun (4856 RPM)

Included pics of what I'm thinking for wheel combo ! Also a link to Richmond site;

I always felt that 2200-2500 was the sweet spot. I did a Tremic 5 speed with a 3.55 in a Duster years ago. The small block cam was too much for the 3.55's and wanted more rpm in OD.Rpm was around 1900-2000 with a 28'' tire,60-65 mph.Next was a bb B body 5 speed Tremic 26'' tire with 3.73's,Much better. Just a thought.

Lots of floor work and some tab cutting on the Tremics.Your Richmond looks better for clearance.

Hello there darter ! Richmond recommends 3.08 but i don't remember with what size tire, id like to stay with 26" but ill figure it out when i get there, you mention that the Richmond's trans looks like a better fit, its a 18 spline trans specific to mopar, the guy i got it from claims it fit's in the stock location of his 1970 4~speed challenger, i am excited to see how it goes in... even if i have cut i think ill be OK with that, well i know i have too cut cause i have a automatic & a 4~speed hump needs to go in, thank you for your input & always nice to here form Guys who have already done it, in your case twice !
