Having issue with carburetor adjustment on 383 HP. Air/fuel mixture too rich. Cannot adjust properly to set timing. I know it could be a number of issues, but focusing on jet and metering rod sizes right now. Have not checked jet sizes yet, but metering rod sizes are 16-160. My service manual and all of my research shows metering rod specs for 4682S should be 16-165 for the 383 automatic. The 16-160 specs are for the 4711S applicable to the 383 manual shift. Can someone tell me how the spec numbers mean? Do the spec numbers apply to the length and diameter of the metering rods and affect richer or leaner fuel mixture? Thanks for any information provided.
