Question about wedge heads

I contacted Bouchillion Performance and although they can relocate the AC compressor, it won't work on my car with Power Steering. So you guys that seem to have made AC and PS work together if you can give details on what you had to do and where you got any parts needed would really help

Thanks

There IS a BPE set-up that places your Sanden compressor below the alternator on the passenger side.
Did you check that out?
A good friend of mine came up with this bracket idea and gave it to Randy Bouchillion.
His name is Bob "Cuda Bob" Stagg

That mod looks pretty specific as to what it requires in order to get the belts right? Not sure I want to get into anything that might require mods or fab work or buying lots of additional parts, but I might try it if that is the only way to keep the AC and PS with a max wedge intake.

Is the only reason the AC has to be relocated is visual (make it look more correct) or does the max wedge intake actually prevent the AC from remaining in the stock location?

Thanks

There is NO room for the compressor with the crossram...

Thank you. The bracket was fabricated by a local hot rod shop to mount the Sanden compressor that came with my Vintage Air set-up. Unfortunately, that's about the only way to mount it, low on the driver's side, and keep my mechanical fuel pump.

Well,
Again, BPE has a set-up that puts the AC compressor under the alternator.
Now, as you stated, I know you don't like to "FAB" and "MODIFY" but it can be enjoyable and fun not to mention relaxing.

So: Call Bouchillion and ask about that set-up in my #22 post.

That setup requires non A/C pulleys and a water pump with the inlet on the driver's side instead of the passenger's side.... so there will probably be some different parts required depending on what you already have, but there should be no fab work necessary. If you're going to spend nearly two grand for a dual quad setup it seems pretty insignificant to spend another couple hundred on the correct pulleys, brackets and water pump housing to keep your A/C.

If it was my car and I was going to spend that kind of money, I'd go to a good dual plain single 4bbl intake and a FAST fuel injection setup. No change required to keep your A/C and it will be much more driver friendly.... but that's just me. Its your car so you the only person you have to please is yourself. There was a day when I would have gone the Max Wedge route too, just to impress my buddies...... but I've grown out of that phase of my life. I'd much rather have a good running, reliable build, that starts easily and is street and driver friendly. Must be getting old, I guess.

If you are concerned about the exhaust cross over clean it and pack with JB weld and steel wool
but you will never use the cross over ever again

We all know that it's probably easier, cheaper and your car is faster with a good single 4 barrel set-up. No new news there. Those of us that choose to go a different route with a crossram do so for 'the look'. It has never occurred to me that it would "impress my buddies", as I don't build my cars for anyone else but me.
As far as your line that you'd "much rather have a good running, reliable build that starts easily and is street and driver friendly", you've just described my car. A while back I took it to an alignment shop and the guy asked me how to start it since he has had a lot of experience with hot rods where the owners gave him a set of instructions as to how many times to pump the throttle, how many hail Mary's to say, etc. I told him when he wanted to put it on the rack, get in the car and turn the key. BTW, you said you must be getting old. I'm 70 and am officially old... lol.
