Question On 67 GTX Hood Scoop Reinstall After Paint

Question for you other 67 GTX guys! Anything go between the hood scoops and the hood? I have never seen a gasket of any kind. Just paint against paint when you put them back on after a repaint or a light coat of emblem seal or what? Just paint on paint does not seem right. Nothing included in a repaint gasket kit.

I had 2 and never seen any gaskets in either .

There wasn't anything between the scoop and the hood when I took them off, but just putting fresh paint against fresh paint just doesn't seem right.

mine had no gaskets paint on paint and they seem fine

Have taken mine off several times-no gasket. Paint on paint.
On this subject, and pardon for hijacking the thread, can the fasteners for the scoops be purchased @ a hardware store. Maybe Fastenal? I'm having a hard time w/ the idea of paying $65 for the fastener kit I've seen for sale on the web.
