I have a 64 Dodge 440 2 dr. post. I bought the car unfinished and had lots of loose parts.

The drivers mirror had already been removed and the previous owner had included a twin post mirror which from everything I see is correct for this car/period.

Although if you look at the pictures the base of the twin mirror and at the mark left on the car from the previous mirror it no way even comes close to being the same.

Anyone with one of these cars know the correct mirror that came with these?

Looks perhaps it might have came with a remote mirror with the extra hole in the door. Does this make sense?

If it had a remote mirror then it would have a hole in the upper door for the joystick. The double post is a correct era piece for it.

Well unfortunately the car did not have the door panels on either. There are numerous holes inside the door. :edgy: I'm sure that all doors are the same and they didn't have a special door for remote mirrors would they?

I mean there's no way a mirror similar to that twin post was on there originally.

The cars going to the paint shop soon and I can have them weld up them holes and start from scratch I suppose.

Looking at a site of Bob Mosher's restored cars it seems that he uses a mirror that looks like it's attached to the vent window trim and not even to the door itself, but the pictures are not really close ups.

Does anyone know of these mirrors that he uses? :edgy:

The twin post is the ticket. The hole in the door would be in the upper part, what was painted in a 68-70.

That twin post is right. It's likely some yahoo put a different mirror on it along the way sometime.

There is a different mirror that I've got on two of my '65's. Both cars were bought from original owners, (different cars and owners) and they both have the same mirror, but NOT the twin posts. It does have a bit larger base than the twin post mirrors. I believe these to be original mirrors per '65 B-body era. This may be why there are differences.

Mine had the same 3 holes, and it was a remote mirror. Twin post is period correct, so I got 2 of them, cut out the 3 holes, made a patch and welded it in. I'll have to drill new holes, but thats simple. Most people will use only the drivers mirror, but I want, NEED, both (only 1 eye), so it wiil look good and be a safety thing.

I went online last night and looked at many 440, 330, and Polara's and from what I gather is the twin post may be period correct buy I don't think they came from the factory with them. Of the dozen or so cars I looked at maybe 2 or 3 had the twin post on them.

I'm wondering if they had different mirror's to choose from when you ordered a car back then.

How would one find out? :edgy:

Your car had the remote mirror. The 2 post is correct for it!Put the remote on!sell the 2 post or mount it on the pass.side!

I'm thinking it did also. Well I'll sell the twin post and go for my lungs on the remote.

Does anyone know if dual mirrors was an option on these cars? :edgy: Are there any publications out there listing options available at the time of purchase for these B-Bodies?

Two different locations, both correct depending on how ordered.

Scored a nice find on E-Bay for a remote mirror in nice condition for 60 bucks. Taken off a 64. Sweet!

At least it didn't have what mine had on it. I would trade this one for the correct one for the '66 Coronet if anyone admits to being interested.

Your car seems to have come out with a remote mirror which is correct for that car if it's on the option tag. Otherwise the two post mirror is correct for that model also. Man, I dig the remote mirror for early B Bodies.

Does anyone know what code number would be used for a remote mirror?:edgy:

I have a 64 sport Fury that came with the remote mirror but got a twin post mirror with the car as the original mirror was gone. I am also looking for a remote mirror. I have the hole in the door panel for it and the code on the vin I believe is r with a 2 under it for lh remote mirror. If your car does not come with it and you want to put the twin post back on let me know and I will buy the remote mirror off of you.

Fury can you post a pic. of the outside and inside of your door where the mirror and remote went? I'm hoping that your door panel is off.

Another question I have is how this get's installed? Does the remote end have to go through from the outside? Or is there a way of taking it apart?

I may not end up using it, so that could be a possibility.
