My carpet kit for my 1971 Charger from Legendary didn't fit worth a dang. What is everyones experience and opinion on carpet kits? Who sells them, what's good and what isn't?

Thanks in advance.

realy? i was wishing i would have bought my carpet threw legendary for my 71 ssp .. i ordered mine threw brewers http://www.brewersperformance.com/
and am not happy at all the way it fit around the shifter hump !!

but i must add that i bought many 4 speed parts from brewers and were very high quality and i was very happy ..!! i highly recomend them

have yet to see a perfect fit carpet kit for any of the cars i have built.as long as the quality is there for the carpet itself i just finegle it to fit.

I like ACC (Auto Custom Carpets Inc.) in Anniston, Alabama 256-236-1118. Their quality and fit are great. They also make all sorts of custom floor mats to match all your needs. I do not know if they sell to the general public or not but if they don't, I can get you what you need at a fair price. I have installed many of their carpet kits over the years and I have never been disappointed with their products.

I grabbed one from ebag and it fits fine. Needs a little trimming but they all do

I did a lot of research on diff kits and talked to a few vendors at Carlisle this year. They all agreed that carpet kits dont just fit right in like a hard part - they have to be trimmed and worked into place (even premolded kits).

My car came w a Trim Parts carpet kit and after some work looks pretty good. here's what i did (really just based on past posts her on FBBO):

1) lay the carpet out in the hot sun to soften it and let return to the premolded shape
2) lay it in and use a heat gun to help mold it in
3) trim it as ncessary

I had the same problem with mine. Mine was to short for the sides. ( 68 b-body ). I was told A.C.C makes 90 % and sells them to the vendors.

There is basicly only two companies that make the carpet kits, ACC & Trim parts. So unless it is a custom one off more than 95% of the resellers usr one or both of those companies. That being said after months of research I have found that most resellers will tell you who actually makes thier carpet (Legendary dose not make thier own). Then woth that being said an informed consumer wko does the legwork can find a good deal.
I got my ACC from Classic during a big sale and saved a bundle over SCC or Legendary's price.

check out stockinteriors.com and see if you like, i got the high dollar set for my 71 sat and i love it, it's the new style carpet, makes you want to drive barefoot

I didn't liked my ACC carpet. didn't match correctly on tranny hump and that made me make wrong cuts, then also the rubber pad fit out of center of driver side floor. Pasenger side tranny hump looks "floppy"

7 years later is discolorating around door sill plates.

going now with Trim Parts. wish me luck.

I just ordered a new set from ECS and they say it is delivered flat and has extra length to fit better than Legendary... We will see when it arrives... It wasnt cheap at over $350!
