I just finished replacing the rear main seal and cap and have two questions. After I torqued the cap to 85 foot pounds per the manual I can see part of the “ears” on the lower half protruding past the cap. Do I just cut this off so it does not interfere with the oil pan.
Second is that the cap is not exactly flush with the block. As you can see from the pictures it sits proud of it just enough for my nail to catch on it. Do I need to loosen the cap bolts and see if it pushes back slightly? And if I do should I get a new seal?
Thank you
