Posting a picture of the brake booster in the 66 I just purchased and don't know if this is the stock unit. As you can see the previous owner went to a dual master cylinder and I believe I will eventually convert the brakes to disc on the front. That might require a different booster???? Also the battery cable has been shortened and also has some noticeable corrosion on the wire. With my earlier MOPARS there is not a NOS replacement for these cables. Anyone have suggestions on how to replace this one or maybe cut the corrosion out and add some length to it?

Pulled the leaking ( but correctly numbered) radiator yesterday and dropped it at a repair shop today. Have not heard the news yet if it's repairable. Have lots of clean up to do down there where the radiator trapped debris and the water pump shaft is wobbling. Will replace the pump and the fuel pump while down there. This is an A/C car and the radiator shop said the core is not stock. Had been replaced before.

The best bet for a booster would be a dual-diaphragm one as the power assist with a single one isn't as good as the dual. It appears you have a single one...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:

It looks like the original booster to me. I have the same one on my Plymouth and it seems to work fine with a disc brake conversion.
I imagine it could be more assist than what I have but I like it.

Appreciate the replies. Had not heard of Mega Parts and looks like they have the correct cable but it's wound up and no length indicated so I might have to message them. Sorting this car out I am finding more info on it. Getting to the thermostat last eve was a chore with the A/C compressor in the way and then a frozen bolt. This had not been changed in many-a-years. Probably because of the difficulty of getting to it. But noticed the 383 motor does not have the big block HP data on a pad in front like my 413's. Also found it has a 294 gear tab on the rear end. So I guess it was built for highway use.

I suppose I could try the brake booster in place if it's working well and might just rebuild it if I go to discs. The brakes are not very good (maybe I'm too used to disc) and the PO put Dot 5 fluid in I suppose when the dual master was put on. More to follow.

Stock drum booster with a disc master.
Just put the disc's on and go from there.

The booster you have will work just fine with a disc brake upgrade.

Imo

My 66 charger does not have a hp stamp either.
I think because to that was an hp only

Don...is yours a 2 or 4BBL carb? I'm trying to figure out what compression ratio I have and whether the PO changed the intake. Books I find on this is that the G code, like mine, was a 383 2BBL w/ 9.1 compression, 270 HP. Might make a difference on fuel additives, etc.

If it's the original G code 383 they were all only a 4 barrel in the charger. The 361 were all 2 barrel.
The specification was 10:1 but likely more around 9.5:1.
As far as fuel additive personally I would just put the best fuel I could in it and tune it so it doesn't predetonate.

The badge on the side of the car says 383 four barrel but I was not sure if that might have been changed. The carb on the car now is not the same number as listed in the guides but likely was changed rather than rebuild the original. Thanks for the info. Makes me feel a little better about the originality of the car.

From your other post, yes it's a 383-4 car.
