Do I still have to ground one of the lugs on the alt with this new style volt reg? I wasn't expecting this type of hidden technology in this new volt reg....looks quite different than the old one inside!! 68 charger

I got one of those and put in on the GTX we had. Nothing more than factory connections needed. Worked good, brought the colts to a steady 14.6VDC. Original one was up around 15.5VDC.

I'm getting another one for the R/T when the time comes and putting the original cover on it.

The square back is a dual field and that regulator is for a single field.
So I say... yes.

Ground the terminal to the case. You can do it with a wire or you can remove the screw on the back of the terminal. You will see a fiber washer. Replace it with a metal washer. It is now grounded to the case.

I just run the closest spade to a valve cover bolt with that regulator and square back alt.

you can wire it up with a terminal and jumper wire to the case, or replace the isolation washer on the brush prong for a metallic one, getting a cleaner view... my advise would be cut also the grounded prong to save from hook the reg field which drives positive on earlier setups on the grounded brush to save from a mstake wiring it up to short.

ground either brush will work the same.
