I'm wondering why none of you put up anything but just lurk on this site.
If you have something to contribute please put it up. ANYTHING:idea1:
Let's get this forum rockin' because I'm going to stop putting up posts and answering if you guys don't start contributing. It's gettin' old.
LURKING IS NOT COOL. To me it's just selfish.:puke:
What do you say?

Well I raced a 69 RR years ago at Dover Dragstrip in Dover , N.Y. , ever hear of it? It was shut down probably in the early 80's.

I don't think I want to race my car when I get it finished, but I probably would go to where you are racing once or twice this summer.

Keep us up dated.

Finishing my high tens low elevens street car right now then its on to the Duster bracket car. Then I can get some seat time again.

I caught the tailend of DOVER DRAG STRIP and raced my 70 440-6 Cuda and 73 Duster up there. Both cars went 12.15 there. Not bad for back in the day.
I almost went into the swamp a few times with drum brakes.
Do you remember the short shutoff and dropoff?

Don't have a B drag car. I am working on a Duster bracket car. Should be done in 100 years if all goes well. LOL Going to MATS next month will get you all some pics of the racing action.

Started racing in the late 70's and got heavy into it in the early 80's until a divorce hit in 86. Then I jumped out of the pan and into the fire and remarried and had more kids! Helped a couple of buds over the past several years and have a few nice combinations under my belt but now that the cost of racing has gone up so much and this last recession knocked my very little man into the dirt, I'm not sure about getting back into it. May just build a street legal sort of a race car lol. I ran 10.60's with a 68 Road Runner in the early 80's on drum brakes at the old track in Houston (HIS) which had a fairly short shut off.....no problem stopping.

Started racing with a little 79 Mustang notchback 20 years ago @ Milan Dragway. Two years later I got my first Mopar (68 Roadrunner) which I eventually sold to my ex-brother in law (one of the worst mistakes I ever made), which he proceeded to blow up. Had no Mopars for several years while I was in the Army traveling around (too much of a pain to ship everywhere). Got out of the Army and got my 64 Fury which I drag raced for several years. Eventually decided the Fury was worth too much to cut up or risk somebody wrecking, so we put it back on the street. Then I got my Coronet, which is now undergoing surgery to become my drag car. It's going to be a serious piece which I'm hoping to put into the 7's in the 1/4 mile. Car will be finished over the winter and ready for action by next season.

Sorry Chris.... been busy, busy these last copule weeks ..... hopefully have some cool vids up here soon !!

Patience grasshopper.................... Just kiddin'

Racing hasn't started around here yet,(still snow on the ground) but in about another 20 or so days, this place will be hopping!

I woukld guess that the majority of the guys in the race forum are avid racers with not much interest in "restored" cars and could care less about numbers matching or the need to be factory correct. These are two different camps in the hobby. Not that they can't
co-exist but they seldom have much in common except for the make and models of the cars.

The F.A.S.T. racing venue has signifigantly change a lot of this. Guys that have restored their cars and have run the curcuit of the parking lot shows, etc. are now setting their original (if they have them) numbers matching drive trains aside. They are now replaced with engines with max built internals that allows them to look just like the car they paraded around for years to shows and are now racing them competitively. The thing I like about this venue is that you have to make the power on a maximum of G70X15 bias belted tires. This eliminates a lot of shock through the body/drivetrain with low RPM launches. Those 6000 RPM launches really rips car apart. I wish F.A.S.T. would catch on in the sourthwest and the left coast, as it is only sponsored in the east and eastern midwestern states.

no B body race car. i'm looking for a B body for the street to build, my race car is a 99 dodge avenger. ex pro stock turned into a top sportsman car.
it has a 591ci predator motor and a power glide in it. runs 7.50@185 without spray. it has two fogger kits on it but haven't sprayed it yet. it should run into the 6.70 @ over 200 mph when i spray it.

I mostly lurk around here because I'm not a racer. Not that I wouldn't want to be, I would love to hit the track a couple of times a year but it would only be an occasional, 2 maybe 3 times per season as we have no track here on Long Island anymore. When I first took my car off the road to re-do it (too long ago) a couple of my friends started hitting the test and tune out at the track in the Hamptons but it closed shortly thereafter.

They're going to start doing 100 ft. drags here this summer at Riverhead Raceway (1/4 mi. oval). Sounds kinda lame to me but I'll check it out nonetheless. Supposedly, this is going to be the start of bringing it back to LI but I think it may just be the politicians throwing us a bone. I can here it now -"Oh, we LET you do your racing thing but that's not enough? Now you want 1/8 mile? Next thing you know you'll want a 1/4 mi track!!!"

LI sucks for racing.

Sounds like a holeshot contest. 6 something gears with as big of shot of nitrous as it will stand oughta be the ticket.

Please!!! I hope not. The environmental jackasses around here would have a field day with that one. All that would do is drive the final nail in the coffin of any hopes of getting racing back here.

On another note, I was on my way to NJ this morning and noticed quite a few car haulers and trailers headed up 95 coming off the Throgs Neck Bridge. What's going on up that way?

If I lived in your area I would be into the F.A.S.T. racing thing in a heartbeat.

I thought about it and decided not to do it.The FAST Thing that is.
I do have a pure stock A12 Superbee that runs high 11's but if I were to do it I would want to be competitive, Now you need to be in the high 9's.

No more race cars for me, 4 is enough. way too many IMO>
