Todd died while undergoing a Liver transplant, during the operation supposedly, he was only 57 y/o that's way to young to die... Being a long time devoted Raiders fan, I watched him allot, he was a good guy too, not just an A-Typical NFL player, he did allot for his community & was a great NFL TE, He was on winning teams, he was part of & won 2 Super Bowls, he went to 5 Pro-Bowls, over his 10 year NFL career... RIP Todd, you will be missed, thanks for the entertainment, my deepest heartfelt condolences go out to, all his family, friends & teammates...

I agree - too young to die. Any details on what his liver problems were? Just wondering because my father-in law was Todd's half brother (same dad - diff mom) His name was Lauren Christensen, he died of cancer @ 41 years of age. My wife was 14 at that time.

Sorry I'm Not sure what Liver disease/ailment it was, I read about it on Yahoo & USA today sports, yesterday, way too many things going on to post it earlier... sorry no link long & short of it... IIRC it was allegedly from a botched gall bladder operation from 25 years ago, they think, that made or aided to his liver issues/failings, only after losing a bunch of weight, he found out he was really sick, then he was on a donor/transplant list for like 10 months, after they finally figured out what was wrong, not sure if he was going thru dialysis treatments or not...

just Google Todd Christensen there are a couple articles about it

Even though Seahawk fans were supposed to be Raider Haters, there were always guys that played for Oakland that I liked. Todd Christensen was one of the good ones. Makes me kind of lonesome for the old AFC West when the Raiders and Hawks had a great rivalry. RIP Todd.

Well said. I was a huge fan of the old AFC West. Todd was one of my favorites too.

I was sorry to hear of this. I really enjoyed listening to him on broadcasts. He was a very eloquent and intelligent commentator.

We've lost a couple members of The Steel Curtain that way. Both L.C. Greenwood and Dwight White died from complications following surgeries.

PS The Raiders suck! :)
