I believe it is coming in through the front driver side door jam. I can see why because there is quite a gap between the fender and the door. I think they would have had a rubber barrier there to stop the water coming in. Anybody out there experienced the same? Does anybody know a fix?

Get it out of the rain! :D Seriously, is this happening when you are driving? The door is supposed to have a gasket that seals to the body and fender to door gap shouldn't be a factor here but there should be a fender well seal/deflector at the back of the fender that keeps the tires from kicking moisture and road debris into the door hinge area. What condition is the body? Rust issues? Windshield gasket leak? Another area to look for is the fresh air inlet from the cowl. There's supposed to be a damn around the openings into the cowl fresh air inlets and sometimes these damn rust out...and it's not an easy fix.

I am with Cranky on this, The cowl air horns could be rusted to oblivion and any rain that goes into the cowl is going on the floor. One way to check is have a buddy get in car and with him shut inside take a garden hose and spray that car with a mist (don't hammer it with water!) and have him see where it is leaking. Then if you have any doubts on the cowl area just tape the vents off and repeat.

Not sure about water getting in from the door, But like was said above, you could have it coming in from the cowl. I'm pretty sure water is getting in my car from ether the cowl or a leak in the windshield. After i wash the car i notice the brake pedal has drips on it.

Don't rule out the windshield wiper pivot seals, they've been known to leak too. I don't know too much about how the '66-up firewall/cowl is designed but if it's anything like my '65 then cowl rot in the well is a good (likely) possibility and like Cranky said, it's not an easy fix. Ask me how I know!!!

My dad has the same problem in his '64 Valiant. He doesn't want to get involved in a major project so we're just going to make him a gasketed plexiglass block-off plate for the cowl vents that fasten with wingnuts somehow, haven't quite figured it out yet. His car is garage kept so it would only be used if he got caught in the rain or for washing the car.

There is a rubber seal......your door seal. In front of that, splash shields and upper/lower splash shield gaskets.

Where are you getting water in your car? Down by your feet? Through the door seam up front and ending up on the sill plate covers or just inside of that?
