It has been a LOT of years since I have looked for a new truck but it was finally time to get a new one. I started by looking at the Ram and then shopped around at the usual suspects Ford/Chevy/Toyota. When it was all said and done I ended up right back where I started at the Dodge dealer. For ride quality, features, good looks, power and price there is just no comparison with the competition. Ram is kinda in a league of its own out there. It was refreshing to see Mopar representing the strongest in class again. (last time I was in a Mopar dealer was 1997 and that simply wasn't the case.)

So I bit the bullet and bought the Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I didn't get a fully loaded truck but one with just the options I wanted on it and so far I am loving this truck. Just thought I would pass it along to anyone in the same boat.

Yeah Meep...I remember your thread. About the dealer wanting to showcase your Hemi car. I took note of your towing test drive. That actually weighed into my decision making. Thanks for your thread...It was a big help. You still diggin the truck after a few months?

70rr-brian, Nice new shinny pick em-up

congrats on the new truck brian.i love my hemi ram!how can anyone compete with 400hp and 20 mpg on the highway.:headbang:

Congrads Brian,
Sweet!
Both you and Meep Meep have your "stuff" together!
Also, worth mentioning; the Cummins Diesel IS in a class by itself. Plenty of power and excellent braking (anybody can pull tons and tons but can you slow it down when needed?)

Nice Trucks, Thank the godds that there still is a Chrysler motor company :hello2:

I bought a new one in May this year, love it too, the MDS is annoying sometimes in sound, as its a V4 engine in those modes.

Looks great Brian, Meeps, Donny.. The body style has changed, Mine is the same,, 1500 4X4 but its a 97. I like the style of them and these new ones just plain look cool. Enjoy...

Nice trucks!!!!!!!!!! No doubt in my mind that Dodge has the superior product in the light truck market. Gas or diesel, the Ram powertrains are way better than the competition.

Yep, I have about 8500 miles now and we're still getting along OK. The best I have seen MPG wise is 17 and have no idea how they claim 20 MPG. I'll likely never see it unless I drive 50 MPH on the HWY with an egg between the gas pedal and floor - down hill. I average 15 commuting to work. Pay load wise it seems a bit soft and can benefit from air bags or overloads of some type. With a car trailer hooked up AND lots of car parts in the bed the *** end is slammed pretty good but still drives solid as a rock at HWY speeds. It handles great, rides nice, $hitload of power and gets respectable gas mileage for all it does. I am not complaining :hello2:

You guys of course know that , I dont remember if it was the government or the insurance rated the Ram as the worst in crash testing.

Yeah, its funny...the side impact rating was not good. But everything else was fine. Ironically when I called to get insurance on it it was cheaper than what I was paying on a 2008 Subaru Legacy 3.0R which had top safety ratings in every catagory. So clearly the insurance company didn't seem to care much. Now if I take a shot in the side and get messed up I suppose I will care then....But frankly you would think the insurance company would care a LOT too and charge accordingly. Go figure.
