i was backing my 72 out of my garage and it died. I wasnt sure if it was just cause it wasnt warm at all and i put it in gear to fast or waht, but when i went to restart it nothign happened. wont even try to turn.

Now, the blinkers still work in acces. but nothing past that. Any ideas?

Nothing from the ignition sir? Clicks, tapping? Headlights work? Check your bulkhead harness connections. Also have a look at your ground strap ect.

Check your neutral safety switch on your 727... One way you could check is drop it into neutral and shaek it a bit and see if it starts. It also could be the dreaded fusible link!

no clicks no tapping no nothing

nothing when in neutral either.

jump it at the starter relay and see if it is getting power to the starter. if it tries to start , something is up with neutral safety or ignition switch

When you say things work when the switch is in acc position you're talking about turning the key to the left (in dash) or counterclockwise if it's on the column? If things work in the 'on' position but the starter won't engage when you go into the start position, I'd look at the NSS first but jump it at the relay like mentioned above and that should confirm the NSS is bad but if you're not getting anything to work in the on position, I'd look at the ignition switch but it wouldn't hurt to check the bulkhead connector too.

Check All the fuseible links at the starter !

Yeah,
Sitting a long time?
Minnesota eh?
Wet winter etc?
Check "ground" wires....
Corrosion (invisible) on Battery terminals etc.

Yeah, the first thing that should be checked is the condition of the battery and it having clean connections. Years back I had a battery go bad and chased my tail on other problems before I finally pulled it out and had it load tested. It had been working just fine then all of a sudden, nothing but it showed it had a charge using a volt meter.

Sorry Wrong make ! My bad !!
There is fusible links/ wires in the harness but it's closet to the fire wall conection.

I would agree with the battery check. My Dad embarassed me as a kid. I KNEW my pickup had a bad starter. Dad cleaned terminals while I was at work and it fired right up.

As for an internally failed battery, I have experienced it twice...once was riding down the road, went over some train tracks and my pickup just died. Hit the ignition, and 'nothing'. Turned out a plate had come loose inside. Just recently, my riding mower would die if it was 'nose down' (my yard is hilly). I thought I probably had a carb issue. I knew the battery was weak so I replaced it before I got into troubleshooting. Once I did it was up and running...and no more stalling when 'nose down'. The mower battery would take a charge, but failed load test. Do you have a battery to swap in for a quick check?

You might try cleaning and reseat your bulkhead connectors.
